In Quali, the Haases were rapid, Bottas has another good showing, and Lando and Oscar locked out the front row, while Charles will be starting all the way back in Qatar, after his grid penalty is applied. And on his final weekend as a driver for Mercedes, Lewis Hamilton’s quali went about as well as one could expect given the trend of this season—a late dash to start his final lap met with traffic, and even a bollard in his path for good measure, to seal his fate at P18. In his own words, “it is what it is,” and Toto says they let him down today, and we’re inclined to agree—in his last dance with the Silver Arrows, he deserved more.
