Alice Wright on psychosis

Sometimes a switch can go in your mind, out of the blue, and your reality changes within seconds. Psychosis is a mental illness that is rarely spoken about when discussing mental health, and affects less than 1 in 100 adults in the UK.

As we continue raising awareness of the different types of mental health disorders, this week we discuss psychosis with alice wright. Alice Wright’s world changed within hours. Following an incredible high, she fell into her first psychosis whilst on holiday. Voices, hallucinations and heightened emotions - a scary but very real feeling. Having experienced two psychotic episodes in the last 5 years, alice is able to share most of her memories from the episodes. The medical treatment she received during and after her episodes, highlight the intricacy of psychosis and how important the support from loved ones is. Throughout it all, self-care and kindness were key. Perhaps we should all take a page out of her book?
