If you lose enough night to sleep, you really are cognitively drunk. Eventually, Tara dove deep into sleep research and figuring out how to get the best sleep possible. Your body functions better when fasting. However, the same does not go for sleeping. Sleep is fundamental. If you don’t sleep for ten days, you can die. We need sleep for longevity and health. If you don’t sleep, you won’t function well. Your chances of getting in a car crash are exactly the same if you’re sleep-deprived or drunk. [09:20] True or False: You Should Get Eight Hours of Sleep Every Night The myth that you need eight hours of sleep is one of Tara’s favorite ideas to debunk. Eight hours of sleep actually came about in the Industrial Revolution. Once we fall asleep, this is where some of the magical parts of the environmental factors like temperature can really come into effect. Our neurons are triggered by a change of temperature. You get the most amount of deep sleep when your body is two degrees cooler. The probability of getting the deepest sleep is in that first half when it's getting cooler. 98% of your weight loss is going to happen during deep sleep.
