[00:55] The Inspiration Behind Everyday Dose and Why Jack Loves Mushrooms At age 5, Jack was diagnosed with ADHD and was prescribed Ritalin. After struggling with multiple medications, the doctors eventually settled on a high dose of Adderall. Jack was on Adderall for twenty years. At 25, Jack had high blood pressure, mood swings, and trouble sleeping. So, Jack quit his Adderall cold turkey and started drinking coffee. Eventually, Jack found mushrooms like lion’s mane and chaga were optimal for productivity and stress. [06:20] Coffee Jitters: How Genetics Are Linked To Caffeine Sensitivity If you have the gene CYP1A2, you are sensitive to caffeine. CYP1A2 means you are going to metabolize caffeine very slowly. If you have CYP1A2, you want to reduce the amount of caffeine that you have. 50% of Americans have the CYP1A2 gene. [07:55] The Combined Effects of L-theanine and Caffeine For Sensitivity If you have the CYP1A2 gene, you can still drink caffeine, just not as much as you probably do now. You can pair different ingredients with each other to have more synergistic effects. Jack uses L-theanine in his Everyday Dose products.
