Even though he appears to have spied for Spain during the Spanish Armada, he managed to avoid serious trouble. Why and how? 6th February 1585, in the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, lawyer, legal scholar and law reporter, Edmund Plowden, died in London. 7th February 1587, in the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, the warrant for the execution of Mary, Queen of Scots, arrived at Fotheringhay Castle and Mary was informed that she would be executed the following day.
