Ep. 1611 Antonella Imborgia Of Costa Arènte | On The Road With Stevie Kim
Welcome to Episode 1611 on another episode of “On The Road Edition”, hosted by Stevie Kim. Today she is at Costa Arènte in Valpantena (Valpolicella), speaking with Antonella Imborgia, marketing manager of Tenute Leone Alato. More about today’s guest Costa Arènte is located in the village of Romagnano at an elevation of 250 meters above sea level, surrounded by vineyards on three sides. From the farmhouse, a 35-hectare estate with 17 hectares planted with the Verona Pergola and Guyot training systems, one’s gaze wanders across the landscapes of the Valpantena and among the peaks of the Lessini Mountains. For the local people, we are “La Costa”, which means “the hillside” in the local dialect and refers to the most valuable plots of land. The article “La” – “The” – is a seal of quality, because this hill is a benchmark for the entire area. Over the years, while passing through the traditions and agricultural transformations of the area, La Costa has always maintained a great rural vocation for the bounty of its land and its strategic position. If it could talk, who knows what tales the old mulberry tree would tell as it looks over the valley from the main farmyard. Ep. 1621 Jeanette Servidio Of Cantina Petra Pt. 1 of 2 | On The Road With Stevie Kim
Welcome to Episode 1621 on another episode of “On The Road Edition”, hosted by Stevie Kim. Today she is in Tuscany, speaking with Jeanette Servidio, general manager of Cantina Petra. This interview is part 1 of 2. More about today’s winery In this land that was a crossroads of ancient and refined cultures, Vittorio Moretti made a dream come true and entrusted it to his daughter Francesca. Petra is a nature reserve immersed in the unique and diverse territory of the Val di Cornia. The Swiss architect Mario Botta, commissioned by Vittorio Moretti, has designed a meeting space that is a perfect blend of form and function. The result is an architectural feat that is soft, respectful and low-impact, as is the entire pathway from grape to glass. Since 1996, the year of its foundation, every wine produced is a journey through time that brings to light the unexplored heart of an enchanted valley and, with it, the desire to rediscover in wine the great mystery of the encounter between earth and sky. Ep. 1609 Maria Giovanna Migliore Of Borgogno | Slow Wine 2023
Welcome to Episode 1609; part of our Italian wine interview series set in Bologna! Today’s interview is between Joy Livingston and Maria Giovanna Migliore of Borgogno Stevie Kim and her team traveled to the Bologna Slow Wine Fair in March 2023. There they conducted dozens of interviews with some of Italy's most inspiring producers. Join the fun every Thursday afternoon! Tune-in each Thursday as we bring you the great interviews that unfolded over the course of 3 days. More about today’s winery: Since 1761, the most historical winery in Barolo. The underground cellars continue to represent a rare historical memory of the Langa to this day, and the wines are made according to tradition: long spontaneous fermentations in concrete tanks without the use of selected yeasts, and long periods of ageing, strictly in large Slavonian oak barrels. We cultivate our vineyards in Barolo, Madonna di Como and in the Colli Tortonesi. With absolute respect for the earth, we use no chemical fertilisers and no herbicides, and practice only eco-friendly treatments. This will result in our being certified as organic for the 2019 harvest. Today, Borgogno continues to be the expression of a territory and of tradition and history, always with a watchful eye on the future.
