Toxic beliefs

Toxic beliefs

Today on #selflovechallengeday18, let's dig into limiting beliefs you may have about yourself. So, what is a limiting belief? These are thoughts or opinions that you have about yourself. These may have been formed from childhood or even later as an adult.

The thing about limiting beliefs is that you can be impacted in your personal life and professional life. For example: Your mom said, "You'll never amount to anything!" or a boss told you, "You never do anything right!" It could also be that you have told yourself that you aren't good at something Even if you know in your heart or gut that these beliefs are untrue, your brain doesn't know this. It can't tell the difference between lies or the truth.

Grab some paper and a pen and really think about those negative thoughts you have about yourself. Consider looking into your beliefs on your finances, parenting, personal relationships, and your health. Jot down what challenges you. Maybe you didn't get that promotion you were hoping for or you didn't make that weight loss challenge. Limiting beliefs can creep up on you during these moments.

How can you shake these negative or toxic beliefs? Negativity thrives in chaos so start by evaluating your circle. Is the crew you hang with positive? Do you need to clean-up around your house or get rid of clutter. Also, dissecting those thoughts you have, where did they come from or who did they come from? Consider talking with a Therapist/Counselor. Start to incorporate meditation, unplugging from technology, getting into nature, try grounding yourself, journaling, or using positive affirmations. Will these thoughts go away overnight? Honestly, no, but they can fade in time if you do the work to flip the switch. Give yourself grace and time to heal. Don't hesitate to message me privately to talk about this or anything that you feel in your heart.
