In the Eastern Conference, the Carolina Hurricanes edged out the Washington Capitals 2-1 in overtime. Jaccob Slavin scored the decisive goal for the Hurricanes in the extra frame. Frederik Andersen made his return to the Carolina net after injury.

In the Western Conference, the Edmonton Oilers rallied to defeat the Vegas Golden Knights 4-2. After falling behind 2-0 in the first period, the Oilers responded with four unanswered goals. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl each recorded a goal and an assist for Edmonton.
