Bernal Takes Yellow as Tour Stage Cancelled

Bernal Takes Yellow as Tour Stage Cancelled

We just witnessed a Tour de France stage that will live long in the memory. I haven't seen drama of its like in quite a while.

On any ordinary day Pinot abandoning the race in floods of tears would have been the main talking point. Pinot was set to illuminate the slopes of the alps but a muscle tear robbed us of the drama and maybe robbed France of a French Tour winner.

The drama was only starting though. Team Ineos took control of the race for the first time this year and launched Egan Bernal clear of the yellow jersey Julian Alaphilippe.

At the top of the Col de l'Iseran Bernal was the virtual yellow jersey by over 40 seconds and that was how it stayed.

The decision was made on the descent of Col de l'Iseran to abandon the race.

The implications, the drama and the fallout - this is an A1 Show not to be missed.

We'll be talking about it for years to come!
