Riley Chamberlain: NCAA Champion, Record Breaker & The Clutchest Closer in College Track

Riley Chamberlain: NCAA Champion, Record Breaker & The Clutchest Closer in College Track

Some runners show up. Others shut it down when it counts.

Riley Chamberlain is doing both.

The BYU junior has become one of the most dangerous closers in the NCAA, helping lead the Cougars to back-to-back national titles in the Distance Medley Relay—including their record-breaking 10:37.58 this season, which shattered both NCAA and BYU records.

But Riley’s not just a relay weapon. She’s been lighting it up solo, too—dropping 8:40.89 in the 3000m at the Husky Classic, the second-fastest time in the NCAA this year, and earning Second-Team All-American honors indoors.

With PRs of 4:08 in the 1500, 4:26 in the mile, and that scorching 8:40 in the 3K, Riley is quickly becoming one of the most consistent—and clutch—names on the track.

A former California Gatorade XC Athlete of the Year, two-time state champ, and NXN qualifier, Riley was a force back in high school. Now, she’s elevating her game on the national stage—racing smart, closing hard, and building a legacy at BYU.

In today's conversation, Riley walks me through her recent success in the sport, her ambtions for the future, winning NCAA titles, the culture of BYU, and much more.

If you're someone who is up-and-coming and looking to take that next step, this one is for you.
