Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show: Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 Bayern Munich (Club World Cup)

Bayern Munich had its first mega-test of the summer as it hooked up with Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup. The Bavarians would lose 2-0 in a hard-fought, and energetic match.

However, the big news is that Jamal Musiala could be felled by a severe injury — one that could have major ramifications on Bayern Munich’s season. Let’s talk about all of that and more on the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show. This is what we have on tap:

  • A look at the starting XI and our thoughts on the match.
  • A rundown of the scoring and substitutions.
  • Some final thoughts and takeaways on the match and what the outcome means at this point of this young season.

Bavarian Podcast Works: Germany beats Portugal, 2-4, holds fate in their own hands against Hungary in Euro 2020

Bavarian Podcast Works: Germany beats Portugal, 2-4, holds fate in their own hands against Hungary in Euro 2020

A lot of us cried “doom and gloom”; a lot of us thought it was over for Germany after a deflating performance against France in their Euro 2020 opener. Yet, today, the attack was inspired, the play was joyful, the defense was shaky and Germany won. It wasn’t a last second free kick from Toni Kroos; it wasn’t a lucky goal; they deserved the victory. With Hungary taking a point against France today, every team is alive going into the final matchday; all Germany has to do (no easy task) is to beat Hungary on the final day and they will qualify; in fact, if Portugal beats France on the final day and Germany beats Hungary, Germany will finish top.Hungary was supposed to be out of it all as was Germany; but both are alive and kicking ahead of the last day of this group on Wednesday, 06/23. The deciders promise to be breathtaking; this game for me, was the best game of this tournament.Match StatsPortugal 2 - 4 GermanyPortugal goals: Cristiano Ronaldo 15’, Diogo Jota 67’Germany goals: Ruben Dias o.g. 35’, Raphael Guerreiro o.g. 39’, Kai Havertz 51’, Robin Gosens 60’Portugal: 42.4%, 7 SOGGermany: 57.6%, 12 SOGStats courtesy whoscored.comBe sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on the 2020 Euros. What a week it has been. We’ve got Bayern Munich and Germany news FOR DAYS, so why don’t you sit back for a bit and hear what we’ve got to say about the hottest topics of the week. This is what we have on the agenda this week:Germany dropped a 1-0 heartbreaker to France that wasn’t....that bad (!?). Will Joachim Löw change things up or will he ride or die with his 3-4-3?The future with Die Mannschaft is going to have a different look and feel as Hansi Flick is about to be the catalyst for the dawn of a new era. Bayern Munich’s Julian Nagelsmann is going to cause some roster craziness if he really uses a 3-4-3.The latest transfer news. Find any of the contributors on Twitter @BavarianFBWorks, @jeffersonfenner, @TheBarrelBlog, and @TommyAdams71.For the latest and greatest in football news, Bayern news, German news and transfer rumors, be sure to check out www.bavarianfootballworks.com!Enjoy the episode!Learn more about your ad choices.
