BOMBSHELL: BARRY MORPHEW CHARGED FOR SECOND TIME WITH WIFE SUZANNE’s MURDER

BOMBSHELL: BARRY MORPHEW CHARGED FOR SECOND TIME WITH WIFE SUZANNE’s MURDER

A Colorado husband and father arrested again in connection with the murder of his wife years after previous charges were dropped, a grand jury indicts Barry Morphew on first-degree murder.

In 2021, Morphew was charged with first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence after his wife, Suzanne, went missing on Mother's Day in 2020, but those charges were later dropped before his trial date and a year before Suzanne's remains were found.

Suzanne Morphew, 49, was last seen on Mother's Day, May 10, 2020, in Maysville, Colorado, after leaving her home for a bike ride. Later that evening, Suzanne's mountain bike is found near the home, and her helmet is found in a different location nearby a few days later.

A massive search for Suzanne spans over a three-year period until her remains are uncovered in a shallow grave in Saguache just a few hundred feet down a dirt road, the indictment states. An autopsy report states drugs typically used to tranquilize animals were found in her system.

Morphew was all smiles at his court appearance.

Join Nancy Grace to unfold what's next for Barry Morphew.

PREGNANT MOM, 25, MISSING, FAMILY'S DESPERATE PLEA: WHERE'S EMMA?

PREGNANT MOM, 25, MISSING, FAMILY'S DESPERATE PLEA: WHERE'S EMMA?

Heading into the ninth month of her pregnancy, Emma Baum finds out on October 4th that she is already dilated one centimeter. Six days later, knowing the baby will be here soon, Emma has her sister drive her to boyfriend, and father-to-be Antwon Butler's house in Gary, Indiana Thursday evening. Emma tells her sister she will see her tomorrow and goes inside.  Friday, Emma Baum does not reach out to her family members even though they are expecting her to come home. After waiting all weekend, Emma's mother, Jamie Baum, calls Butler and asks to speak to Emma. Antwon Butler tells Jamie that Emma isn't there...he saw her leave with a girl in a car. However, Butler changes his story several times and family believes he is being less than truthful. The family reports Emma Baum missing and tell the police Antwon Butler was the last person to see Emma. As it happens, Antwon Butler has an outstanding warrant for failure to appear, so he is picked up and taken to jail on charges not related to his missing girlfriend.  Weeks of searching for Emma have led to no results and the family of Emma Baum are at a loss for what to do next. Standing in front of Antwon Butler's house in Gary, Indiana, the family asks local tv crews to get the word out, begging for the safe return of the mom of three and her newborn.   Joining Nancy Grace today: Jamie Baum - mother Jason Waddell -  father Abby Smith - sister  Paige Baum - sister Gregory Morse – Partner at the law firm of King Morse, PLLC. JUSTICE! LAKEN RILEY MURDER SUSPECT GUILTY ON ALL COUNTS

JUSTICE! LAKEN RILEY MURDER SUSPECT GUILTY ON ALL COUNTS

Jose Ibarra, the sole suspect in the murder of University of Georgia jogger Laken Riley, has been found guilty on all charges. The ten charges include three counts of felony murder, malice murder, kidnapping with bodily injury, aggravated assault with intent to rape, and “peeping Tom.” In emotional testimony, University of Georgia Police Sgt. Sophie Raboud detailed the final moments of Riley’s life, breaking down the timeline into minutes. Before her final jog, Riley texted her mother at 8:55 a.m., asking if she was free to talk. At 9:03 a.m., Riley called her mother. She then listened to music and was seen on a trail camera at 9:05 a.m., holding her iPhone in her left hand as she jogged toward the intramural fields. By 9:06 a.m., Riley ran out of the camera’s view. Minutes later, at 9:11 a.m., Riley activated the SOS function on her iPhone to call 911. The dispatcher was unable to speak with her before the call was disconnected. The dispatcher attempted to call back twice but received no answer. Riley’s phone later received a call from her mother at 9:24 a.m. When Riley failed to respond, her mother sent a text at 9:38 a.m. reading, “Call me when you can.” During closing arguments, State Prosecutor Shelia Ross outlined the evidence supporting each charge, describing Ibarra as “a monstrously guilty individual.” Defense attorney Kaitlyn Beck presented two alternative theories: that DNA was transferred onto clothes found in the apartment, implicating Ibarra’s brother Diego as the murderer, or that Ibarra may have been an accomplice but not the primary culprit. Ultimately, Superior Court Judge H. Patrick Haggard found Jose Ibarra guilty on all counts.  Joining Nancy Grace today:  Philip Dubé  – Court-Appointed Counsel, Los Angeles County Public Defenders: Criminal & Constitutional Law; Forensics & Mental Health Advocacy Dr. Angela Arnold – Psychiatrist, Atlanta GA. DEAD EYES: LAKEN RILEY MURDER SUSPECT BLANK STARES AT BODY VIDEO, "SLEPT LIKE BABY" AFTER MURDER

DEAD EYES: LAKEN RILEY MURDER SUSPECT BLANK STARES AT BODY VIDEO, "SLEPT LIKE BABY" AFTER MURDER

Jose Ibarra, a 26-year-old migrant from Venezuela, faces 10 charges, including malice murder, three counts of felony murder, kidnapping with bodily injury, aggravated assault with intent to rape, aggravated battery, obstruction of a person making an emergency call, tampering with evidence, and Peeping Tom. On the eve of jury selection for his murder trial, Ibarra waived his right to a jury trial during a pre-trial hearing and requested a bench trial. A judge will now hear the case and render a verdict instead of a jury. The presiding judge, Superior Court Judge Patrick Haggard, is known for his no-nonsense approach. Haggard has personal experience with violent crime, as his father, a salesman, was fatally shot during a gunfire exchange with two men attempting to rob him in a Georgia apartment complex in 1992. Special Prosecutor Sheila Ross alleges that Ibarra was "hunting for women" on the day of Laken Riley's murder. Ross stated that Riley fought fiercely against her attacker, leaving marks on Ibarra and securing his DNA under her fingernails. She highlighted video evidence allegedly showing Ibarra disposing of a black jacket in a dumpster. The same jacket, according to Ross, contained both Riley's and Ibarra's blood. Additionally, Ibarra is accused of leaving a fingerprint on Riley's iPhone while attempting to stop her from calling 911. SHOCK TWIST IN MYSTERY DEATH OF BRIDE-TO-BE AFTER SHE'S VICIOUSLY STABBED 20 TIMES, BIZARRELY RULED SUICIDE

SHOCK TWIST IN MYSTERY DEATH OF BRIDE-TO-BE AFTER SHE'S VICIOUSLY STABBED 20 TIMES, BIZARRELY RULED SUICIDE

Ellen Greenberg was found stabbed to death in her apartment, with at least 20 stab wounds. She was stabbed in the back of the neck and head, and the final wound was a stab to the chest, with the knife left embedded there. Her death was initially ruled a homicide by the Philadelphia Medical Examiner. However, police disagreed and publicly challenged the medical examiner's findings. Months later, Medical Examiner Marlon Osbourne, without warning or explanation, reclassified the death as a suicide. Since then, Greenberg’s parents have fought to have her death ruled a homicide or inconclusive, only to learn that Pennsylvania state law allows a "medical examiner to be wrong as to the manner of death but cannot be compelled to change it." The Chester County District Attorney's office announced it could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that a crime occurred in Ellen Greenberg’s death. As a result, the investigation is now considered "inactive." The DA’s office said detectives reviewed prior investigations conducted by the Philadelphia Police and the Attorney General's office, interviewed new witnesses, and consulted with an independent forensic expert. A spokesperson for the DA's office explained, “This standard of proof—beyond a reasonable doubt—makes the criminal investigation different from other legal matters surrounding Ms. Greenberg’s death." The Chester County DA's decision to move the investigation to "inactive" status does not change the fact that there is no statute of limitations for criminal homicide in Pennsylvania, and the case is not being closed. It will remain "open and inactive."
