Dear loved ones,

This is what it's like to live with a chronic illness and what I wish you knew. From feeling guilty for not working to constantly explaining good days, I'm sharing some insights into the challenges we face. I hope someday you'll understand...

If you're feeling frustrated and confused about how to support your loved ones with chronic illnesses, despite your best efforts, then you are not alone! It can be challenging at best, and well-intentioned actions may not always have the desired effect. Offering unsolicited advice or trying to fix the problem can come across as dismissive, while avoiding the topic altogether may leave your loved one feeling isolated. It's important to recognize that chronic illness is a lifelong journey, and what works for one person may not work for another. By acknowledging the challenges and working to understand your loved one's individual needs, you can create a more supportive and inclusive community.

Just because we did it yesterday doesn't mean we can do it today. So don't be mad or frustrated or think we don't want to hang out with you if we have to change our plans. - Sarah
