Nottingham Forest 2-1 Derby County: The 1865 Match Report

Nottingham Forest 2-1 Derby County: The 1865 Match Report

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. A derby day that had the lot; a Forest win, drama, memorable goals and even a bust-up at the end! This Saturday lunchtime clash saw Forest secure a 2-1 victory over Derby and extend their unbeaten run against their rivals to 10 matches. Forest lined up without the injured Joe Worrall, so Ryan Yates moved into the back three alongside Steve Cook and Scott McKenna, whilst ex-Derby man Max Lowe made his return from the sidelines at left wing-back. However, an uninsipiring start saw Steve Cooper switch to a 4-3-2-1 formation in the first half, but aside from a huge miss by Derby's Tom Lawrence, the opening 45 didn't offer much. The second half got off to a flyer, as Lewis Grabban netted his third goal in as many games and 13th of the season, pouncing after Cook's attempted shot was blocked into his path. With eight minutes remaining, Brennan Johnson started and finished a fine move, exchanging passes with Philip Zinckernagel before firing into the bottom corner of the net for 2-0. Derby pulled a goal back from the penalty spot through Lawrence, at which point the midfielder was barged out of the way by Brice Samba (sporting a headband after a previous accidental clash with the Derby no. 10), sparking a heated clash inside the goal. The visitors, in the midst of their well-publicised off-field issues, couldn't find an equaliser. Ravel Morrison was given a straight red for a reckless challenge on Zinckernagel, while at the final whistle another melee broke out as the Forest players and fans enjoyed their victory, with the Reds retaining the Brian Clough Trophy. The Maradona of the Midlands is joined by Baz and Steven to talk over an eventful East Midlands Derby, where they look at the tactical battle of the first half, Forest's improved second half showing, the brilliance of Brennan's goal and Samba having the Derby players on strings. Nottingham Forest 1-1 Ipswich Town (5-4 on pens): The 1865 Match Report, March 2025

It was another long night in the FA Cup, as the Reds played 120 mins and needed penalties to beat Ipswich Town. The home team will feel like the worthy winners, and once again all their efforts in the shoot-out were superbly slotted home. Ryan Yates had equalised George Hirst's header in regulation time, leading to the extra period, and Forest once again brought on some of the big guns to get over the line. Rich Ferraro is joined by Steven Toplis to discuss the match, the team and tactical switches, and also the celebrations at the end. We'll be back later in the week with your Friday 5 roundup and your Manchester City match report. Come on you Reds! Billy Davies - It Is What It Is: 1865 Podcast Special, March 2025

Billy Davies - It Is What It Is: 1865 Podcast Special, March 2025

The recent evening with Billy Davies saw him joined by Terry the Kitman, Wes Morgan and Lee Camp for tales from both of the Scotsman's spells at the club, split into the Doughty years and the Fawaz era. There were a few surprising takes and a bit of dirt dished on some key personnel around the club. Our men Steven, Tom and the Maradona of the Midlands were there, with Maradona presenting this special show looking back on what we learned and reflecting upon what feels like a turbulent spell for the club. Nottingham Forest 0-0 Arsenal: The 1865 Match Report, Feb 2025

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Arsenal: The 1865 Match Report, Feb 2025

It was a stalemate at the City Ground as neither team created many chances of note. Forest will be happier, keeping a clean sheet after a poor defensive run, and for the second match in succession, substitutions in midfield gave the Reds a new lease of life. Rich and Baz discuss the match, defensive solidity, tactics and fatigue. We'll be back in your feeds very soon with our review of the Billy Davies event, Part 2 of our 1994-95 retrospective, and then our match report from the cup game against Ipswich. Come On You Reds! Newcastle Utd 4-3 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report, Feb 2025

Newcastle Utd 4-3 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report, Feb 2025

It was a first half horror show from the Reds as, despite taking an early lead, they meekly conceded four goals to Newcastle in 45 minutes to forget. The second half was much better as the hosts dropped off and Forest regained some fight, and Nikola Milenković and a late Ryan Yates effort at least reflected the team's efforts to try and rescue the game. In our match report, the Maradona of the Midlands talks to Tom Newton who endured a long afternoon and a difficult journey home. Forest are still in third going into Wednesday's match against Arsenal, and we'll report back after the game. 1865: The NFFC Women's Football Show, Feb 2025

It's the return of the 1865 Women's Show, reviewing another very strong set of results for the Reds as they emerge from a busy fortnight with three wins and one draw. Carly Davies' team remain at the top of the National League Northern Premier Division, but it is tight at the top, so recent results against Rugby Borough and Wolves were really important. Rich Ferraro is joined by Adam to review recent results, extol the virtues of youth and experience, and to look forward to the National League Cup Final against Stoke next month. Fulham 2-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report, Feb 2025

Fulham 2-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report, Feb 2025

Forest were second best at Craven Cottage as Marco Silva and his team delivered a lesson in tactics and performance, and in truth, the home team could have won by more goals. Emile Smith Rowe's first half header was cancelled out by a goal out of almost nowhere by Chris Wood, but despite a change in formation and tactics, the Reds had no answer for Calvin Bassey's second half effort. Rich Ferraro is joined by George Edwards to discuss the game, the formation and whether Nuno might have got things wrong on this occasion. George also has some high praise for Matz Sels, who kept the scoreline respectable. We'll be back with our Women's Show in midweek, and our Friday 5 news roundup before the weekend's game away at Newcastle. Come On You Reds!
