What will VGK's roster look like after this weekend?
This should be a big weekend for VGK. Not that they will be active in the NHL Draft, but Free Agency begins officially next Tuesday and the Golden Knights need to add more pieces to their roster. Of course, the big prize would be signing Mitch Marner, but VGK also has to sign some complimentary players. One of the latest Golden Knight names to surface as a trade piece was Nic Roy. We (take a wild) guess on VGK's Draft pick at #58. The new CBA will officially be announced Friday morning. And, it's WTF Day with fan comments.

Smith, Saad to remain in Vegas according to reports
According to reports, VGK is re-signing Reilly Smith and Brandon Saad. Smith, the original "Misfit" apparently will sign a one-year contract worth $2 million. The contract includes $1 million in salary and another million signing bonus. He had a 40-point season between the Rangers and VGK last season. He had 11 points in 21 games with VGK. Saad signed for $1.5 million with VGK last season. He had 14 points in 29 games with the Golden Knights. There have not been any terms released as of press time. With the recent reported signings we discuss what we can read into the current roster reconstruction. Without any figures on Saad's reported signing, VGK has $7.6 million left in cap space.

Is VGK trying to move Hertl by July 1?
The Golden Knights might be trying to trade Tomas Hertl to clear cap space for a potential move to land free agent Mitch Marner. Free agency is just six days away and there was a lot of talk of Hertl to Carolina on Tuesday. It turns out that Hertl has a modified trade clause in which he can pick three teams he wants to get traded to effective July 1, the start of free agency. The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun said the Marner list is growing with VGK the most mentioned team where Marner will land. The others are Dallas, LA, Anaheim, Carolina and Columbus. We talk about center depth and who would replace Hertl or William Karlsson, whose name re-surfaced again Tuesday. And we talk about the players who will be entering the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Changes in the Pacific Division
We look at some of the changes already in the Pacific Division during the offseason. There have been six trades in the NHL so far this offseason and four have been in the division. Teams like Seattle, L.A., Anaheim and San Jose have a ton of cap space, so they are just getting started to change their lineups. The latest move came on Monday, as Anaheim traded Trevor Zegras to Philadelphia for Ryan Poehling and two draft picks. We also talk about the three new head coaches in the division - Joel Quenneville in Anaheim, Lane Lambert will be behind the bench in Seattle, and Adam Foote moves up to head coach in Vancouver. We also have our picks for breakthrough teams this season.

Marner Monday: Report says VGK in the top 3 for Mitch Marner
Reports say VGK could be the frontrunner for Mitch Marner. But there has also been word that Marner could seek a two-year deal due to the rising cap, in the vicinity of $12-14 million. Reports say Marker will likely sign with VGK, LA or Dallas. Is Akira Schmid the #2 goalie heading into next season? Our Chris Gawlik hears that Schmid has the backup goalie position heading into the season all but secured. Ilya Samsonov is said not to be coming back to VGK. Adin Hill needs to be better
Adin Hill was at the bottom of the NHL playoff rankings winning 5 of 11 games and allowing 33 goals. His save percentage was .887 andhis goals against was 2.93. His numbers were worse vs the Oilers. We also wonder if VGK is in the mix to pickup veteran center Jonathan Toews through free agency. Toews, 37, has been out of the game for a couple of seasons suffering from complications of COVID.
