Reflection from the Qur’an: The Followed and their Admirers – Shaykh Faid Mohammed Said

Reflection from the Qur’an: The Followed and their Admirers – Shaykh Faid Mohammed Said

Bismillah-ir Rahman-ir Raheem

[And they should consider that] when those who have been followed disassociate themselves from those who followed [them], and they [all] see the punishment, and cut off from them are the ties [of relationship]. Those who followed will say, “If only we had another turn [at worldly life] so we could disassociate ourselves from them as they have disassociated themselves from us.” Thus will Allah show them their deeds as regrets upon them. And they are never to emerge from the Fire. (Surah Al-Baqarah, 166-167)

Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) described the Qur’an as a guide to the straight path; and the beauty of the Qur’an is that each ayah (verse) is beautiful and so much so that you cannot differentiate between the beauty of two ayahs!

And the People of Qur’an, when they read and journey through the Qur’an, their skin shivers, as they learn, experience and become a part of something new each time they read and reflect on the Qur’an!

In this world, people follow each other, look up to one another, enjoy the company of the other and follow their advice; hence there are two: the followed and their admirers. However, on the very Day that we will be made to account, people will be running away from one another, and those that were followed will disassociate themselves from their admirers; and the admirers will wish they had another chance to go back and disassociate themselves from the ones they had followed!

Let this serve as a reminder to us all – let us not put ourselves in that position!

Instead, let us connect to the Qur’an, as the greatest khair (blessing) is to live by, live with and to learn the Qur’an!

Listen and #ShareTheNur! Allahumma salli alaa Nur.
