Revisiting the Coach-Athlete Relationship Part 1: Developing an Elite Tennis Player

This is Episode 46 of Beyond Top 10 that focuses on the coach-athlete relationship and begins with the terminology around a tennis player to athlete and their ownership before discussing powerful connections and the role of power in the relationship dynamic. An important discussion is shared on finding your voice and a window into my own 'thinking process' before moving onto a more controversial topic of firing your coach. We then look at how the employer to employee dynamic works in tennis and a tennis player's power. The parental advantage brings us to a close with how the parent and/or guardian (or 'other') can empower the player/athlete before ensuring a common goal remains at the forefront of the coach-athlete relationship with the power of reflective practice.
