It’s time to turn back the clock this week on Celtics Beat.  In this very special edition show, Rich Conte will take a look back at one of the best, if not the best, team in Boston Celtics history.   The 1973 Boston Celtics set a team record for most wins, 68, had the league MVP in Dave Cowens, but failed to capture a championship.  During the Eastern Conference Finals, Hall of Famer John Havlicek separated his shoulder, and the Celtics were never able to overcome the injury -- succumbing to the eventual champion New York Knicks in seven games.   Rich will have the pleasure to be joined by the legendary Bob Ryan.  Ryan is arguably the greatest professional basketball scribe in North American sports.  The 1972-73 Celtics was Ryan’s first year on the Celtics beat for the Boston Globe, and he has called that season his favorite in history.  Rich and Bob will look back, reminisce, and analyze that season. We may be in the midst of the NBA’s doldrum season, but Celtics Beat on CLNS Radio is still giving you plenty of Boston Celtics and NBA talk.   Hosts Rich Conte and Larry H. Russell will have the privilege to talk to the President of the Boston Celtics, Rich Gotham.  Rich took over the post in April of 2007 and the organization has seen a tremendous amount of success both on and off the court in these past seven plus years.  Rich will stop by to talk about the new changes to the TD Garden this fall, the new alternate logo, and oh yeah, the team itself.  What should fans expect from the 2015 edition of the Boston Celtics and the franchise going forward? Are the Celtics in the right hands with Wyc Grousbeck and his ownership group alongside Danny Ainge and Coach Brad Stevens? Rich will discuss this and much more on this very special edition of Celtics Beat.   And despite the slow months of the basketball season - there’s still plenty to discuss in the world of professional basketball.  Team USA is off and running, but all everyone seems to be talking about is LeBron James.  Like you’d expect anything else.  On this week’s episode, Rich and LHR will dive into LeBron’s new low carb diet which has seemingly been the cause for his substantial weight loss over this summer.   And of course, Rich and LHR go Around the NBA in 5.   So tune into yet another edition Celtics Beat; this time on a new platform.  Same time as always, 2 PM ET/11 AM PT.  Or catch us OnDemand on iTunes or Stitcher.  Powered by CLNS Radio.   Learn more about your ad choices. What was left of the fireworks show is no fizzling out for the Boston Celtics. Rich Conte and Dr. Andre Snellings reunite to discuss the Celtics off-season thus far, the NBA Summer League, and the rest of the comings and goings in the NBA. Dr. Snellings attended the Summer League out in Vegas and will share his special insight on the show. While news on the Celtics front has quieted down a bit - the rest of the NBA is still roaring late into the dog days of summer. Longtime and legendary NBA scribe Peter Vecsey will stop by to fill everyone in on what in the heck is going on. Is Kevin Love a mortal lock to be in Cleveland? Would that make the Cavs the favorites? And what in the world is going on out in Los Angeles with the Lakers? Alas, Celtics Beat wouldn’t be Celtics Beat without your Celtics fix. Mass Live’s Jay King makes yet another appearance on the show to discuss the men in green. And of course, Rich and Dre go Around in the NBA in 5. The fireworks show for the Boston Celtics has been canceled.  Therefore, feel free to join the candle lighting over at Celtics Beat. Larry H. Russell may not have a co-pilot for this week’s show.  But the business class section is full.  Ian Eagle, voice of the Brooklyn Nets on the YES Network, as well as CBS Sports, joins LHR to talk about what’s going on in Brooklyn.  What’s the deal with the former Celtics Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett? Is KG definitely coming back? Why did Pierce leave? And what the heck happened with Jason Kidd? And hey, should the Celtics expect anything from Marcus Thornton? Speaking of fireworks - it seems the only fireworks there’s been has been between Celtics blogosphere members and ESPN’s Jeff Goodman.  Recently, Jeff has been very critical of Rajon Rondo and his game and some fans and members of the media haven’t been too keen to Jeff’s analysis.  Is it warranted? Jeff appeared on Celtics Beat last December and his recent comments have only reinforced what he said on CLNS a few months ago.  Jeff will have the floor to talk Rondo, Marcus Smart, Evan Turner, and what other rumors he’s been hearing regarding the Boston Celtics. We have a deal. Boston Celtics fans have finally gotten what they wanted - a trade. But is it the precursor to the fireworks? The Celtics have acquired Tyler Zeller, Marcus Thornton and a first round draft choice for their trade exception. Hosts Jared Weiss and Nick Gelso will break it all down on the latest episode of Celtics Beat.   Jared and Nick also spoke to Jessica Camerato - Senior NBA writer for BasketballInsiders.com. What will the Celtics do if they can’t get Kevin Love? What’s Rondo’s future? There are few people in the Boston area more plugged-in to the Boston Celtics than Jess, so on this edition of Celtics Beat, listeners will get the latest lo-down. And there’s also quite a bit of news going on in the NBA world. Will LeBron James make a decision before the show airs on Saturday? Is he going back to Cleveland? Or staying put in Miami? Jared and Nick will cover that and more in Around the NBA in 5. So tune in this Saturday to another edition Celtics Beat on CLNS Radio at 2 PM ET/11 AM PT. Learn more about your ad choices.
