Mindset Tips from the HYROX Elite

In this episode we get to look into the mindset of elite HYROX athletes. A lot of focus gets placed on the training regimes of the best of the best in HYROX, and rightly so, its obviously important. But much less attention goes towards how these athletes think. The fact is, there are some people physically more capable than some elite athletes right now, and who probably eat better and train more intelligently, but don’t perform as well at hyrox because their mindset, in some way, is holding them back. HYROX is tough. What allows some athletes to continue to push on, in the depths of a race, when their body is desperate for them to ease off, is a real differentiator in the sport. In this episode we share some clips from previous interviews with some of the best athletes in the sport – including Hunter McIntyre, Megan Jacoby, Alexander Roncevic, Rebecca Mason, Kate Davey and many more – where tell us they think about during a race when the going gets tough. 2023 HYROX World Champion (Lauren Weeks)

In this video we chat with the 2023 HYROX World Champion, Lauren Weeks. This was recorded just a few days after the World Championships in Manchester where, on the Friday night, Lauren won the Elite 15 race in a time of 59:51, making her only the second woman ever to break the 60 minute mark, and managing to do it on the grid format, on a 4 lap course (both of which traditionally make your race much slower). And what’s more she’s done it all just 10 months after having a baby! In this episode I chat with Australian HYROX athlete James Kelly. James was last on the podcast back in October 2022 a few days after he’d won the Mens Pro race in Birmingham when he went sub 60minutes on his HYROX debut. He’s now back in Europe to race in Cologne and to try and gain back his spot in the Elite races at the upcoming 2023 World Championships.
