From the Manukau to the Far North – William’s Journey to Living Free

William Lomas — better known as William the Fisherman — has built a loyal following by keeping things real. From his early days netting mullet in the Manukau Harbour to landing big snapper on softbaits up north, William’s story is one of curiosity, self-teaching, and pure passion for fishing. He’s not about the flash or the hype — just the adventure, the grind, and the good yarns that come with it.

In this episode, William talks about what drives him to pick up the rod every day, how he’s teaching himself the art of gamefishing, and why sharing the raw, unfiltered side of fishing matters. His journey shows that you don’t need expensive gear or fancy boats to make it happen — just persistence, a bit of creativity, and a real love for the ocean.
