Scoliosis Surgery, Hypermobility, and Enjoying the Little Things: Ellen’s Story

Scoliosis Surgery, Hypermobility, and Enjoying the Little Things: Ellen’s Story

Dealing with hEDS/HSD and co-occurring conditions, including scoliosis, is anything but easy.

In this episode, I’m joined by Ellen to talk about the realities of dealing with some of the more complex issues relating to hypermobility (which in her case includes scoliosis and multiple spinal surgeries). Ellen shares her journey, including how she copes with her dynamic disability all while balancing her university studies in criminal law.

This is a conversation about some of the tough stuff (including surgery and dysautonomia) and Ellen’s experience navigating it while still managing to enjoy the little things.

In this episode, we cover:

- when Ellen first realised she had an abnormal spinal curvature (and what happened next)

- the moment when everything “clicked” when she realised she had hEDS/HSD

- the challenges that come with spinal surgery, let alone revision surgery

This episode is for anyone who is hypermobile and struggling to deal with their symptoms.
