About CAP Selects Season 6 of CAP Selects is a weekly series showcasing the exceptional work of our Creative Audio Production & Sound Engineering students. During the second-year of study, students are tasked with writing a five-track album from scratch that realises a creative vision. An opportunity to explore any idea they choose – the only limitations to this brief is that one of the tracks must be collaborative and another must be covers or reinterpretations of original work. This week is Bluenhorny's Evolve. Here’s what they said about their project: "Evolve is an experimental album about transformation. It begins in an orchestral world, glancing toward Woodkid’s cinematic gravity, and ends in a fully electronic space that edges closer to stogex: hard kicks, fast transients, metallic detail. The passage from strings to circuits is not a gimmick; it mirrors the artist’s life in motion, the feeling of outgrowing one skin and learning another. The record is also a portrait of a friend: a woman learning to live with the aftershocks of war. Her days are measured by small victories—sleep returning, crowds becoming bearable, the courage to love again—and the music tracks that arc. Early pieces breathe in long lines and gentle swells; later tracks tighten, accelerate, and cut brighter shapes, as if the body were relearning speed without losing tenderness."
