Real Self Care for Moms of Teens

Real Self Care for Moms of Teens

In this episode of the Honestly Amber podcast, I’m talking about something that gets thrown around a lot but isn’t always fully understood: self-care for moms of teens.

And I’m not talking about bubble baths, girls’ nights, or a little retail therapy. Those things can be fun and relaxing, but the kind of self-care that actually helps you show up as your best self during the teenage years goes much deeper than that.

In this episode, I talk about what real self-care looks like — things like learning emotional regulation, understanding your triggers, naming your own emotions and needs, and sometimes getting support through coaching or therapy.

Parenting teens requires a grounded adult in the room, and that can be really hard to do if we’re running on empty emotionally. When we take the time to care for ourselves in deeper ways, it changes how we respond to our teens and how we show up in our relationships.

I also talk about the ripple effect of this work — how when moms do their own healing and growth, it doesn’t just impact them. It impacts their kids, their families, and even future generations.

My hope is that this conversation encourages you to see caring for yourself not as something selfish, but as a powerful form of leadership in your family.
