The Ministry of Time Book Club

The Ministry of Time Book Club

In this book club episode of Literature on the Rocks, we’re revisiting The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley to talk through the ideas and questions that linger long after the final page.

We explore what the Ministry’s time-travel project might actually be trying to accomplish — beyond the surface-level experiment of pulling people out of history. The conversation also turns to the narrator’s experience navigating life as a multicultural person, and how that perspective shapes her understanding of identity, belonging, and connection.

Naturally, we also imagine ourselves in the role of “bridge.” If we were responsible for helping someone from the past adjust to modern life, what would we choose to teach them first?

It’s a thoughtful, spoiler-filled discussion about time travel, perspective, and the strange challenge of helping someone find their place in a world that isn’t theirs. Grab a Gentle Let Down cocktail and listen in. 🥂
