I need you to picture this. A man walks into the world of herbalism. He's a middle school civics teacher. He's a homesteader. He's building his own apothecary from the ground up. He's a Master Mason. He's working toward his clinical herbalist certification.

And three months out of the year?

He is Santa Claus.

I am not making this up.

Today on the Heart of Herbs Herbal School Podcast, I am so excited to introduce you to Jacob Hoss Loughlin — the founder of Tinsel and Tonic Apothecary, a student in our Clinical Herbalist program, and genuinely one of the most inspiring people I have had the pleasure of talking to in a long time.

Jacob's herbal journey didn't start in a classroom or a garden. It started the way so many of the best herbal journeys do — with a child who needed help, a system that wasn't listening, and a parent who said, you know what? I'm going to figure this out myself.

And figure it out he did.

We're talking about herbalism and family, about building a business on a budget and a whole lot of heart, about homesteading in city limits and why dandelions are basically magic, and about what it truly means to be Santa — not just wear the suit.

His motto? Be self-sufficient. Help everyone you can. Inconvenience no one.
