Ep. 918: World-Record Skydiving - Melanie Curtis

Ep. 918: World-Record Skydiving - Melanie Curtis

Melanie Curtis is a professional skydiver who led a group of 80 women skydivers from 22 countries to make history by setting a new world record: the largest all-women head-down (“vertical”) skydive. Named Project 19 after the 19th Amendment that gave women the right to vote, the spectacle celebrated women’s rights and highlighted women’s issues.

Though they aimed for a record of 100, this fantastic team still got it done (breaking the 2016 record of 65). They took 29 jumps in total, including practice and warm-ups. The ladies pulled off the only successful skydiving world record this year; there were two others mixed men/women.

Melanie has completed over 12,000 jumps to date and is a sought-after speaker and consultant. Melanie also co-hosts her own podcast, Trust the Journey with Jason Moledzki, which focuses on creating conscious connections through raw and vulnerable sharing. She is the Executive Director of the nonprofit Women’s Skydiving Network and co-founded the Highlight Pro Skydiving Team, an all-female demonstration jump team.
