Do you know the game called Go?

It is a very famous board game in Japan.

It is played with black and white stones.

The rules are simple, but the game is very deep.

but these days players from China and Korea are even stronger.

In Singapore as well, many people learn Go.

Actually, one of my close friends teaches Go.

That friend really loves Go.

Before, that friend invited me and I used to go to a Go gathering.

People gather about once a week and play Go together.

My friend taught many things to me, because I was a beginner.

He taught me how to place the stones and some basic ideas.

At first, I did not understand very well.

But little by little, I started to understand.

And I thought Go was very interesting.

However, there was one problem.

Everyone was extremely strong.

No matter how many times I played, I almost never won.

Go is fun, but I think it is a very difficult game.

It is said that Go began in China.

And it was about four thousand years ago.

It has a very long history.

In ancient China, it was an important skill for kings and nobles.

Maybe it is a little similar to children today going to tuition, or learning piano or swimming.

In Japan, many people first learned about Go from a manga.

The name of the manga is Hikaru no Go.

It is a very popular manga.

I also learned about Go because of that manga.

I watched the anime and I also own all the manga volumes.

It is a very interesting story.

While thinking about topics for this podcast,

I suddenly remembered Go.

And I started to feel like playing again.

Maybe I will visit my friend again.

And this time, I would like to win at least once.
