Busy vs Productive

Busy vs Productive

Of late, we have been hearing a lot of buzz around mandates from organizational leaders for the workforce to return back to the office. Some of the reasons given are:

  1. It is hard to build a sustainable culture with a 100% remote workforce

  2. Humans are inherently tribal in nature, and there are several studies that are quoted saying that working together in close proximity of others increases productivity

  3. Politics. At least for the largest companies, many tax breaks and other incentives were involved in locating large office complexes. Those municipalities want the economic activity that comes with thousands of people “downtown”.

Now, that triggered a thought in our minds when we were brainstorming what topic to tackle, and we agreed on discussing the difference between being productive and being busy.

So JT, Bryan - we are all experienced leaders who have had several teams reporting to us.
