The disorders associated with Maternal Mental Health can be caused by a mixture of biological, psychological and social stressors. (lack of income, lack of support, lack of insurance, stress from hormones, or even family history) If ever left untreated these disorders can cause consequences for the mother, the baby, and society. Transitioning into motherhood is not easy for everyone some women struggle and so what should be a moment to be excited and overwhelmed with joy, some women are fighting for their mental health.
