JHGC in Conversation with Tali Nates, Courtneigh Bernstein and Marc Gwamaka for Africa Day 2020

Every year 25 May is celebrated as Africa Day! This podcast is in conversation with JHGC Executive Director and Founder Tali Nates, JHGC Educator Courtneigh Cloud Bernstein, and Youth Project Manager for the Aegis Trust Rwanda, Marc Gwamaka celebrating the work the JHGC has done with partners across the African continent through the Change Makers Programme (CMP). In 2016 the South African Holocaust & Genocide Foundation, Aegis Trust, Kigali Genocide Memorial in Rwanda, and the Rwanda Interdisciplinary Genocide Studies Centre developed an educational project that encourages learning from the continent's difficult past using the histories of the Holocaust, the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda, and Apartheid, in order to promote pluralism and counter extremism. The Change Makers Programme helps to cultivate youth leaders in the continent by teaching youth critical thinking and leadership skills to resist violence, and to challenge the ideas of extremism by becoming upstanders and change makers within their communities. ~ Please share your comments and questions!
