The Crying Woman in the Empty Room | Real Ghost Stories

Maggie had experienced strange things before, but mostly as a child—fleeting moments she eventually learned to ignore or explain away.

That changed in college.

Living off campus near Humboldt State, she became used to hearing her roommate argue and cry late at night over a troubled long-distance relationship. So when she woke up one night to the sound of sobbing coming from across the hall, she barely thought twice about it.

Until the next morning. Because according to her roommate, no one had been crying at all.

At first, Maggie tried to brush it off as exhaustion or stress. But over the following months, the crying kept returning… even after the room sat completely empty.

And years later, after moving to a different city entirely, someone else finally heard it too.
