JR Spear is a military veteran and a martial arts coach. JR tells the story of how he was injured in an ambush while at a walking checkpoint in 2007, and how this experience has shaped his approach to life. JR Spear shares his story of going through war and coming home to a broken marriage and depression and his journey to recovery. He eventually sought help from a therapist, which led to him being diagnosed with chronic PTSD. He also highlights how when you lose your identity and purpose, it is hard to know what you are chasing after and where you are going. One of the things that people value most in life is their own name, and how a powerful name is created by describing who they are and what their values and beliefs are.
