LIVE: Rangers Trade for Pavel Dorofeyev, Draft Alberts Smits

Joe and Eric are LIVE for round one of the NHL draft. Within the first 20 minutes, Chris Drury drops a bomb, trading for 25-year-old Pavel Dorofayev—37 goals, 12 playoff goals this past spring—for the 26th overall pick, a third-rounder, and a conditional top-10-protected 2028 first, then locks him up immediately at seven years and $11 million a year. Eric and Joe spend a while just absorbing the enormity of it. Then the Rangers use the fifth pick on Latvian defenseman Alberts Smits, while Chase Reid sits on the board, and the broadcast hits a brief freakout before Chip, and prospect expert Chris and Roberto join to talk everyone down.
