How do you hold your nerve in a title race?

How do you hold your nerve in a title race?

As domestic football seasons come to a close across Europe, nerves are setting in for players, managers and fans. Arsenal and Manchester City are in a two-way fight for the Premier League title, while in the Scottish Premiership, Hearts have been trying to hold off the challenge of Rangers and Celtic. In France, underdogs Lens have been putting the pressure on all-conquering Paris Saint Germain.

René Meulensteen reveals to John Bennett the advice he gave to Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson while working as a first team coach at Old Trafford. Meulensteen helped the club to Premier League titles in 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2013. He's now preparing for the World Cup as Iraq assistant manager.

Phil Johnson is a chartered member of the British Psychological Society’s Division of Sport and Exercise and has previously worked with the likes of Liverpool and Monaco. He says Arsenal must attempt to block out the noise coming from outside the club and remain focused on what they do best if they're to win their first Premier League title in 22 years.
