Could Africa rule the table tennis world?

Could Africa rule the table tennis world?

Table tennis's top players are heading to London for the World Team Championships, which start on April 28. Among them are players from 11 African nations, including Nigeria, Egypt and Tunisia.

Wahid Oshodi, president of the African Table Tennis Federation explains the importance of these championships, the strength of the sport in Africa and how he believes we could have a senior singles world champion sooner than many might think.

He tells More than the Score's Ade Adedoyin why he thinks we could see an African world medallist in the next three to four years, and identifies players to watch out for - but also points out that the funding gap between African nations and the sport's traditional powerhouses, particularly China, remains a major issue.

Ade also talks to one of Africa's top players, Egypt's four-time Olympian Dina Meshref. She tells the story of how she found the sport, and shares the reality of what it takes to compete at the highest level.

Every Monday to Friday, More than the Score tells stories beyond the scoreline from all over the world of sport. From Formula One to netball, MMA to figure skating, and Grand Slam tennis to Diamond League athletics. We've got interviews with extraordinary athletes like Tour de France winner Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, Uruguay's history-making marathon runner Julia Paternain, trailblazing Samoan athlete Alex Rose and cricket superstar Smriti Mandhana, as well as the experts working behind the scenes, from football super-agents to the coaches keeping athletes in peak form. Plus, we've got the expertise of the BBC's top journalists, who share their insights from decades of covering sport at all levels.

And if you've got your own take on the stories we cover, we'd love to hear from you. Email morethanthescore@bbc.co.uk, or WhatsApp us on 0044 800 032 0470. You can find more information, along with our privacy notice, on our website: bbcworldservice.com/morethanthescore
