Sally McRae on Cocodona 250 Lessons, Choosing Strong, and Race Strategy

One of the most watched and celebrated athletes coming from this year’s Cocodona 250 was Sally McRae, as she geared up for her first attempt at a 200+ mile race. Thousands of people followed her journey from Black Canyon to Flagstaff, as she battled tons of adversity throughout the race, but pushed through to eventually cross the finish line as the 4th place female in the race. It was truly one of the best storylines of this year’s race!

Sally McRae is a professional ultrarunner for Nike, Bare Performance Nutrition, Leki, COROS, and Camelback who is a fan-favorite in the ultrarunning community for always being so authentic, transparent, and inspiring when it comes to sharing her journey. Known as the Yellowrunner, Sally constantly challenges herself to show the world that we all have the power to choose strong. She is also the host of the Choose Strong Podcast, is a content creator, and is the author of the upcoming book, Choose Strong, releasing on June 4th, 2023.

In this episode, Sally breaks down her biggest lessons and takeaways from Cocodona 250, a look into her strategy and some of the memorable stories from the race, and powerful insights and perspectives on racing and training that have helped her to continue to push through in times of struggle.

We are also joined by the Cocodona 250 women’s champion, Sarah Ostaszewski, on this episode who was an amazing co-host and shared some awesome commentary on the race with Sally throughout! Sarah even shares some of her insights on her race as well.

Huge thank you to Sally for coming on the show and huge thank you to Sarah for co-hosting the episode!
