In this episode of The Talk Tracks, Becca Cramer, a nuclear engineer, writer, and skeptic turned believer, returns to the studio to share what she has learned since her first investigation into The Telepathy Tapes.

What began as an attempt to debunk the claims surrounding spelling and telepathy has since evolved into a commitment to advocating for nonspeakers and challenging the assumptions that continue to limit their access to communication.

After meeting spellers, families, and communication partners, and engaging directly with researchers on both sides of the debate, Becca has gained a deeper understanding of apraxia, motor planning, authorship, and the difference between support and control.

Becca and Ky explore why the validity of spelling must be considered separately from the question of telepathy, and why the possibility of influence does not mean a nonspeaker’s words are not their own. Together, they examine the emerging research, the institutional resistance that remains, and what must change for nonspeakers’ communication, autonomy, and lived experiences to be taken seriously.
