Recovering from a serious ankle injury meant spending long days alone in a quiet country house while her husband was at work. At first, the silence was a welcome change. Then she began hearing him come home hours before he actually arrived.

Soon, stranger things followed.

Every afternoon, the dining room looked slightly different than it had before she fell asleep. A chair would be pulled back from the table, then another, arranged so naturally it appeared someone had just finished a meal and stepped away. She began questioning her own memory—until a photograph proved the room really was changing while she slept.

The most unsettling part wasn't that the chairs moved. It was the growing feeling that she and her husband weren't living in the house alone...they were simply arriving a few minutes after someone else had finished dinner.
