The Odyssey (2026): The First Film In History To Succesfully Get Matt Damon Home In 100% IMAX

Ben and Rob are joined this week by a very special third mast, guest host Amber Poppit for an episode covering Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, the $250 million, 100% IMAX 70mm adaptation of Homer's original road trip gone wrong epic.

Starring Matt Damon as Odysseus, the King of Ithaca who spends a decade failing to simply go home, alongside Tom Holland as his son Telemachus and Anne Hathaway as long suffering wife Penelope, The Odyssey rounds out its absurdly stacked cast with Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron as Circe, and Zendaya as Athena; the goddess whose entire arc has the internet arguing about whether she's a deity, a vision, or a guilt trip with cheekbones. It is, depending on who you ask, either Nolan's most ambitious swing yet or yet another film maker desperately trying to get Matt Damon home.

Ben, Rob, and Amber dig into the "shot entirely on IMAX film" claim and what that actually means for a movie shot across real-world locations instead of a soundstage, the casting choices that had half of Film Twitter cheering and the other half frothing at the mouth, what this interpretation of Homer's The Odyssey is doing for culture and cinema as a whole, Ben proves without a doubt that we live in a time of apparent magic and the 3 embark on a journey almost as epic as The Odyssey itself.
