Ep. 939: The Sharp End of Life and Raising Alex Honnold - Revisited - Dierdre Wolownick

Ep. 939: The Sharp End of Life and Raising Alex Honnold - Revisited - Dierdre Wolownick

Originally aired April 26, 2019

Long before her son was doing some of the most incredible climbing in the world and her daughter was solo bike touring around the west, Dierdre was living a life full of adventure. From moving to different countries and starting orchestras from scratch to raising two kids by herself and working much more than fulltime, Dierdre enjoyed taking on out-of-the-box challenges and seeing what she’s made of.

Never to be one to think of age as a limitation, Dierdre started running at the age of 55 and began climbing at 58. Within a few years, she was running marathons and by 66 she became the oldest woman to climb El Capitan, the same rock that her son, Alex, would free solo. It’s evident in both her children that they were raised by someone with lots of room to live outside the box. We hope you enjoy this conversation.
