Kerry the Fire-Engine Dog

This children’s book tells the heartwarming tale of a stray dog named Kerry who is adopted by a New York City fire department. Initially a homeless wanderer, Kerry is taken in by Fireman Jim and quickly adapts to life at the fire station, learning the routines of the brave first responders. His courage is put to the test during a house fire, where he heroically enters a smoky basement to rescue a mother dog and her puppies. In recognition of his bravery, Kerry is officially named the company mascot and gifted a special silver helmet. The story serves as a tribute to a real-life canine who served Hook and Ladder Company 29 for nearly a decade. This narrative highlights themes of loyalty, bravery, and belonging through the journey of a dog finding his purpose.
