Her elderly parents had only lived in the little house by the bay for a short time when she began noticing things she couldn’t explain.

Once, she watched two people walk past a window toward the backyard—only to discover there was no one anywhere outside. Later, after one devastating loss, she began waking to pounding so loud she was certain someone was at the door.

But the strangest incident came after another loss, when the house was finally empty and waiting to be sold.

Someone—or something—had apparently been inside. There was no sign of a break-in, no obvious way anyone had entered, and what was left behind made even less sense.
