Clouds Not Chaos: Your Sunday Stress Reset

Clouds Not Chaos: Your Sunday Stress Reset

Hey there, friend. I'm Julia Cartwright, and I'm so glad you're here with me today. You know, it's early morning on a Sunday in late August, and I'm sensing you might be feeling that particular kind of Sunday stress, right? That low hum of anticipation about the week ahead, or maybe the weight of things left undone. Whatever brought you here, I want you to know you're in exactly the right place. So let's take a few minutes together and give your nervous system a little love. Go ahead and find a comfortable seat. You don't need anything fancy, just somewhere your body can settle. Maybe uncross your legs if you had them crossed. Let your shoulders drop away from your ears. Good. Now take a moment to just notice where you are. Feel the support beneath you, solid and stable. Now, let's start with something I call the three-count settle. Breathe in slowly through your nose for a count of three, feeling your belly expand like a balloon filling with air. Hold it gently for three beats. Then exhale through your mouth for three, imagining you're blowing out birthday candles, slow and steady. Let's do that together now. In for three, hold, and out. And again. One more time. Beautiful. Here's where the magic happens. I want you to imagine your stress as clouds passing through the sky. Not clouds you need to fight or push away, but clouds you're simply observing from the ground. Your nervous system is like a clear blue sky, vast and unchanging. The clouds move through, they shift shapes, sometimes they look dark and heavy, but they always, always pass. So as you continue breathing naturally now, I want you to mentally label what you're feeling. Notice the tension, maybe in your shoulders or your jaw, and just whisper to yourself, thinking, not clouds. Anxiety about tomorrow, clouds. Regret about yesterday, clouds. Each time you notice a stress thought, don't wrestle with it. Just acknowledge it gently and return to feeling your breath, feeling the earth supporting you. Keep going with this for another moment. Your job is simply to observe. You're not trying to fix anything or make it go away. That's where so many of us get stuck. We fight our stress, and that fight creates more tension. But when you step back and watch it like clouds, something shifts. Your whole system relaxes just knowing you don't have to control it all. Now, as you wrap up here, I want to give you something practical. Pick one moment today, maybe your first cup of coffee or tea, where you'll pause and do this cloud practice for just one breath cycle. That's it. One intentional moment of remembering you're not your stress. Thank you so much for spending this time with me on Stress Relief. Your commitment to your own peace matters more than you know.
