70. Two People. Two Maps

70. Two People. Two Maps

Two people can live through the same moment and walk away in two completely different worlds.

One person needs space. The other experiences distance. One thinks they are calming things down. The other feels shut out.

In this chapter of Collecting Maps, I explore what happens when our maps don’t match, how quickly an internal experience can become a verdict about the other person, and why understanding someone is not the same as agreeing with them.

There is a difference between ”I feel abandoned” and ”You are abandoning me”

One describes what is happening inside me. The other turns my experience into a fact about you.

Maybe intimacy is not finding someone whose map perfectly matches ours, but learning how to stay in contact when it doesn’t.

I want to understand your world without disappearing from my own.

Two people. Two maps. One landscape.

Stay curious. Stay honest. Stay present. Stay human.
