This Fancy Hagood girl chat goes from Spice Girls and Dua Lipa to religion, coming out, queer country and his destiny being his own.

Fancy takes us back to Baby Jake: growing up in Arkansas, moving to Nashville supposedly to study religion, losing his religion instead, and eventually finding both his queerness and the name “Fancy” while working at Forever 21.

They talk about the realities of being openly gay in country music, why Fancy is tired of waiting for Music Row to decide whether he belongs, touring arenas with Ariana Grande before finding himself back behind a bar, and the emotional significance of standing in the Grand Ole Opry circle and singing about finding a man to love.

But obviously, this is GILP — so there’s also a LOT of Spice Girls, the dream Real Housewives of Nashville cast, Downton Abbey, Dua Lipa, red flags in hot men, unhinged things we’ve done for love and Fancy casually revealing that he could “easily start a cult.”
