Tomasz Kosowski Murder Trial Day 6 | State Rests & Kosowski Calls No Witnesses

Day Six of the Tomasz Kosowski murder trial brought the prosecution’s case against the former Florida plastic surgeon to a dramatic conclusion in the murder of attorney Steven Cozzi, whose body has never been recovered.

Cozzi’s parents testified that they have not seen or heard from their son since March 21, 2023. Lead Detective Colin Bolton then walked the court through the investigation, searches of Kosowski’s properties, his detention, the remote dumpster and the extensive landfill search.

Representing himself, Kosowski challenged the prosecution’s theory that he could have moved Cozzi’s approximately 195-pound body in a Gorilla Cart and lifted it into his truck. He even requested a courtroom demonstration involving a person inside the cart, but Judge Joseph Bulone denied the request.

The State’s final witness was Medical Examiner Dr. Jon Thogmartin, who testified that although Cozzi’s remains have never been recovered, he believed Cozzi was dead and that the circumstances were consistent with homicide. Prosecutors then rested after presenting 56 witnesses.

Kosowski’s motion for a judgment of acquittal was denied. He then chose not to testify, not to call any witnesses and rested his defense, setting the stage for closing arguments and a verdict in this extraordinary no-body murder trial.
