Let’s Talk Financial Literacy

SEASON 5 EPISODE 15 On this episode of SaunaiE Podcast our host XO starts off the show discussing his Quotes of the day, the first quote about Regret, something that we've all dealt with in life, but this quote gives us insight on how to not dwell on Regret but seeing the blessing within it. The next quote is about being too concerned with people's opinions and how being concerned with those opinions keep you in a prison instead of being free. Then we dive into the main topic of the show and of April "Financial Literacy" a subject that needs to be discussed daily within households. XO reveals a few childhood stories about how Financial Literacy played a role. Topic #1: What is Financial Literacy (05:10) In this segment XO defines what Financial Literacy is from the two definitions he found. 1st definition says it's the ability to understand & apply different financial skills effectively. The 2nd definition says it's the possession of skills & knowledge that allows an individual to make informed & effective decisions. Financial Literacy is rarely discussed in Black Households it's like a foreign language. Growing up XO didn't know anything about finances & it was never discussed in his home, as a matter of fact he didn't learn about it until 2 years ago and he's still learning day by day. Financial Literacy is more than budgeting, it's about personal management, understanding how a checking & saving account works, what using a credit card means & how to avoid debt & the list goes on. A very great segment about What Financial Literacy is. Topic #2: 5 Trends Making Financial Literacy in this segment XO details some key factors on why we need to learn more about Financial Literacy starting off with People are shouldering more of the Financial Decisions like Retirement and the segment ending with the Overwhelming Choices we have to make about finances that all play roles in our everyday life. ( If there's any more trends that you know of email us saunaiepodcast@gmail.com ) Thank You for reading. Have a great weekend. We'll be back Monday with another episode -XO
