Autism and ADHD | (5 Things YOU NEED To Know)

Autism and ADHD | (5 Things YOU NEED To Know)

Here are 5 VERY interesting things you need to know about Autism and ADHD. This is information I have never shared. 1. It is commonly com morbid to have ASD and ADHD. There are lots of people on the autism spectrum who also have a diagnosis of ADHD, this is very common, and extremely common among males on the spectrum. This is very interesting as ADHD and Autism go hand in hand in most diagnosis assessments for people being diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. 2. My ADHD Is impacted by sugars, and caffeine. For me personally my ADHD is massively impacted by the intake of sugar and caffeine, so much so that for the last 10 years I haven’t had caffeine in my diet. I try to stay away from processed sugars and candy as this also impacts my hyperactivity behaviour. In fact when I have large intakes of sugar I find is very difficult to sleep at night. 3. ASD conflicts with ADHD. Usually when I want to hyper focus on an obsessive interest my hyperactivity wants conflicts with this in an interesting way and want’s me to jump from obsession to obsession, or topic to topic. This can be very frustrating as I am wanting to get settled in and focus on one thing but my brain is having a war with my mind. 4. ADHD made me super irritable in classrooms. Having ADHD caused me lots off issues in school like being unable to focus on my work and what the teachers were saying. It also made me super unhappy because I wanted to learn. On top of that my Autism made me really board in classrooms when I was a kid so this was a difficult combination, and stressful. 5.ASD is sometimes mis diagnosed for ADD This is largely because of the things like zoning out, obsessive interest, hyper focus, super smart, super creative. It is common among younger people to be mis diagnosed with ADD when it is actually Autism. There is more research into autism conditions now going on so i believe this issue is going to get better.

There are lots of famous people with autism, and famous people with ADHD but we don’t always see this in the public eye. It is not to say that they are hiding the fact or that the don’t want you to know, it is just that some famous people with disabilities are not putting the disability at their forefront. There are super commonly known wants like Dan Ackroyd and Temple Grandin, but i wanted to look at famous people with Asperger’ syndrome that people didn’t already know about because this was super interesting. Growing up, to see idols that you look up to on the spectrum or famous people with dyslexia was so empowering and helped you feel more normal in a chaotic world. OCD Symptoms Hack (YOU NEED!)

OCD Symptoms Hack (YOU NEED!)

OCD Symptoms can manifest in many different ways. Here is one hack I use to eliminate an OCD of mine and it totally works FAST. OCD or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder impacts 2.3% of the population but is more commonly co occurring with other conditions like BPD and Autism. OCD symptoms in adults is the same as OCD symptoms in children it is an obsession to do something. Sometimes this can cause distress if it is also a custom to negative intrusive thoughts. What is OCD symptoms? It is basically symptoms that relate to an obsessive compulsion. These sometimes occur after a person experiences trauma, but mostly it is a mental health condition that occurs organically. My OCD causes me to be late for things a lot of the time as i like to get things right before moving on to something else, and this makes me return and re peat the actions again until I'm happy that they are done correctly. I talk about how to treat OCD and how I treated some of my OCD symptoms, with basic hacks that anyone can use. I also have had OCD treatment before professionally. there are many types of OCD and there will be multiple signs of OCD but it is the same concept of compulsion to do something repetitively until it is done to a standard to ward off negative thoughts, these are symptoms of OCD.

STOP STIMMING NOW!

STOP STIMMING NOW!

STOP STIMMING NOW! - How would you react if someone told you to stop stimming while you where stimming? Imagine being in a room feeling safe and secure. You are on the spectrum and you enjoy stimming, so you are stimming. Someone burst into the room, picks you up, puts you out side on the street and says STOP STIMMING NOW. How would you feel and how would you react to this kind of information? Being autistic myself with a diagnosis of Aspergers Syndrome having this experience thrust upon me is very upsetting and confusing. I was supposed to be appearing on a national TV show with just days left before the show starting, all bags packed, all filming done, to then get a call telling me I am not doing it anymore and all contact stopping. This was so upsetting and confusing I still cannot get my head around it. But this experience has shown me one thing, that the main stream media don't want to see autism represented on reality TV the don't want the 'risk' of that. This is my personal experience with this and I am going to do everything I can to show that autism isn't a bad thing and it isn't a risk for anyone! Carry on stimming!
