Autism In The Media (Why I Was KICKED OFF THE CIRCLE😤)

Autism In The Media (Why I Was KICKED OFF THE CIRCLE😤)

Autism in media has a long way to go - this is why I was kicked off TV! SIA VIDEO: https://youtu.be/YGul8R9ZmXU There is a history of issues with how autism is represented in the media from, film and movies to TV shows and reality TV shows. I was asked to audition of a reality TV show in 2019 as a chance to compete on a reality TV gaming show. The importance of what I would do on this show, was the ability to bring awareness from a daily living perspective under a reality TV show about autism and ADHD. This was my objective and mission of this process. The TV company at first seemed to understand and want to get on board with it, but then they turned it. Relight at the last second, 3 days before going onto the show they called and said they didn’t want me on the show. When I asked about this, they said they wanted to play it safe...? This was such a blow to my mission and everything I had been working towards. If you have any comments please pop it in the comments below as I read every one. This Is Why Girls With Autism Are ALWAYS Forgotten

This Is Why Girls With Autism Are ALWAYS Forgotten

Why are girls with autism always forgotten about? Here is why! There is an odd occurrence that happens in regards to autism in girls. Autism is three times more likely to be diagnosed in meals and is females, this is a statistic that almost highlights that is Miss three times more common in males and is females. But this is just not the case autism in females is probably just as common but all of the diagnostic criteria is set up and was set up and founded on research based on males with the condition. Also autism diagnosis in females may be the last thing that a doctor will actually pursue when investigating behavioural traits in a female, usually they will go for personality disorders or generalised anxiety. Here are three reasons why females are probably forgotten about on the autism spectrum. 1.Old Data Most if not all of the data that was created on the research of autism to create the diagnostic criteria was based upon research of meals with autism spectrum conditions, this does not translate females. 2.Different Diagnostic criteria When diagnosing girls with autism, there will be different diagnostician criteria to consider that is different to that of males on the autism spectrum. 3.Masking Masking is where Autistc women will mask their issues and difficulties to try to fit in during social and public settings. This happens because the autistic brain is wired differently to that of a typical person and the autistic individual will have a heightened perception of most if not all senses. This can create a very triggering experience for a person on the autism spectrum and cause them to have a sensory overload and eventual burnout of meltdown due to this. There are versions steps we can take to avoid these see my earlier video on hacks for sensory processing. Autism Motivation: This Will Keep YOU Productive! (3 HACKS)

Autism Motivation: This Will Keep YOU Productive! (3 HACKS)

Autism motivation can be a struggle for autistic people, here are 3 hacks to keep YOU productive! It is sometimes the most difficult task in the world to stay motivated and stay on task when you are on the spectrum and especially if you have ADHD also. I have laid out some simple but impactful productivity hacks for autism to keep you motivated and productive! 1.Set A Timer: Lack of motivation to do some thing productive comes from the ability to do something more fun. If you have tasks you need to do, try set a timer for the tasks so you know that you can do fun things after the timers is up! 2.Lists: Create lists of all the things you need to do and tasks to complete, and have them visible on your desk, wall or even the background of you phone or tablet to prompt you to stay productive. A plan keeps you on track! 3.Use Apps: These are some of the best apps to keep you productive as heck: - Tiimo - Helps keeps you on task, and remembering to do tasks with a timer. Also has smart watch integration. - Microsoft To Do - Keeps everything you need to do in an organised cloud synced to do list and is perfect for people on the spectrum. - Notes - The best on phone organisers for tasks and ideas and planning, with awesome tools and featured baked right into the app. I hope these hacks bring you the much needed productivity motivation that they do for me!
