Human Family by Maya Angelou - Inspirational Poem | Read by Simerjeet Singh | Powerful Life Poetry

Human Family by Maya Angelou - Inspirational Poem | Read by Simerjeet Singh | Powerful Life Poetry

Our next poem in the Poetry That Inspires series is titled “Human Family” by Maya Angelou, where she speaks about seeing the best in people despite their differences and how we are all basically the same. This poem conveys simplicity & universal truth that all human beings are similar in nature irrespective of their skin colour, religion, caste or background. Maya Angelou’s words touch on unity and oneness of humanity which is a message that is very relevant in today's society where we see more division than before. Now it's too important to have each other's back. We all need each other! Hope you have a great week ahead. Regards, TeamSJS & Simerjeet Singh Human Family I note the obvious differences in the human family. Some of us are serious, some thrive on comedy. Some declare their lives are lived as true profundity, and others claim they really live the real reality. The variety of our skin tones can confuse, bemuse, delight, brown and pink and beige and purple, tan and blue and white. I've sailed upon the seven seas and stopped in every land, I've seen the wonders of the world not yet one common man. I know ten thousand women called Jane and Mary Jane, but I've not seen any two who really were the same. Mirror twins are different although their features jibe, and lovers think quite different thoughts while lying side by side. We love and lose in China, we weep on England's moors, and laugh and moan in Guinea, and thrive on Spanish shores. We seek success in Finland, are born and die in Maine. In minor ways we differ, in major we're the same. I note the obvious differences between each sort and type, but we are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike. We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike. We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike. Looking for your next Big Opportunity? - English Inspirational Story by Simerjeet Singh

Looking for your next Big Opportunity? - English Inspirational Story by Simerjeet Singh

Have you ever felt that you deserved better than what life has offered to you so far? Are you one of those who believes that opportunities are to be discovered by moving away from the place where you belong? If yes, listen to the latest episode entitled “Looking for your next Big opportunity” as part of the Stories that Matter Series to remove the misconception. Simerjeet tells an inspirational story, “Acres of Diamonds,” and drives home the point that there is no shortage of opportunities wherever you are; what you need is the correct mindset to notice and grab the opportunities on offer. The episode highlights the binary between the opportunities being “out there ready to be discovered” or being “right here to be explored.” Ali Haafid, in the story, could not discover his acres of diamonds because of the mindset that the next ample material opportunity is in the distant land. Simerjeet combines the ancient wisdom of the story with modern day entrepreneurial success stories to make you realize that you should count your blessings and work hard to make your reality a better one. The episode highlights that if we are dedicated and passionate about our own, we won’t need to explore distant lands for material and professional gains. There will be challenges en route, but you can change them into opportunities with grit and determination. All you need is a new perspective to realize that the best options might be available where you are. Listen to the episode till the end to find out how you are the only person who can turn your life around. All you need to do is stand up with your head held high and commit yourself to the opportunities at hand. How to CHANGE CAREERS & Follow Your Passion? | Simerjeet Singh & Aakriti Goel on Self Transformation

How to CHANGE CAREERS & Follow Your Passion? | Simerjeet Singh & Aakriti Goel on Self Transformation

The Japanese Ikigai (Reason for being) exercise helped a stressed-out, burnt-out young engineer from BITS Pilani launch version 2.0 of her career as a doctor at 29 – a decision that would raise many eyebrows and a goal many would call unachievable. Aakriti Goel’s story is one of grit, vision, perseverance, refusal to accept the status quo and a call to action for everyone to pursue their dreams. In this episode of the Beginner's Mind Series host, Simerjeet Singh and Akriti decode the complex and often confusing path of changing your career and reinventing yourself professionally. This conversation will help you overcome the cultural and social barriers stopping you from making a career transition and realizing your dreams. We look forward to your active participation in this Livestream. Regards, TeamSJS Do you feel stuck with the career choices you have made in your life? Is the daily grind of professional life gradually pushing you towards dissatisfaction and burnout? If you identify with any of these questions, listen to Simerjeet Singh’s live chat with Akriti Goel in the Beginner’s Mind Series. Akriti Goel is a 2015 batch Engineering graduate from BITS Pilani who swiftly climbed the corporate ladder. She worked with the company’s CEO and supervised new initiatives, operations, content, design and company PR until, in January 2020, she had burnout and quit the job. Then, the turnaround started, and she prepared for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). She got an All India rank of 1118 and is set to pursue a career in medicine. She will be a doctor at 35 and a surgeon at 40. Simerjeet Singh and Akriti Goel share why it is essential to follow your dreams. Career transition is the most difficult choice you may have to make in your life, but you should not desist from it. Together they explore questions like “Can you restart your career?”, “Is age a barrier in a Career change?” and “Can women opt for career transition in the Indian society?”.They emphasize that there is no limit to what you can achieve if you have faith in your abilities. The conversation also bursts the myth that in the Indian situation, once a person chooses a career, he cannot make a transition. If you are passing through such a phase or believe that there is a need to reinvent yourself, the conversation with Akriti Goyal will clarify many doubts and pave the way for you to achieve your career goals. Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening - Inspirational poem by Robert Frost | Read by Simerjeet Singh

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening - Inspirational poem by Robert Frost | Read by Simerjeet Singh

Listen to Simerjeet read one of his favourite poems, “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening,” in a bid to bring inspiration to your daily lives. Simerjeet gives the message that you may pause a bit at the time of distraction but should respond to the call of duties and responsibilities in your journey of life. We hope this poem inspires you to grab the opportunities that come your way and to face the daily grind of life with a smile on your face. Our next video in the Poetry That Inspires Series! Simerjeet Singh, through the soul-touching recitation, highlights the traveller’s point of view who stops by the woods on a snowy evening and muses about nature and society. The recitation will make you ponder the themes of exhaustion and optimism, fatigue and commitment, and conflict in the human mind between moments of solace, which causes distractions vs pending obligations and call of duty. Through the rendition of this inspirational poetry, Simerjeet wants to give the message that you want to pursue many things in life. Still, under the pressure of responsibilities, push yourselves in a different direction. It would be best to proudly keep all your promises with a firm belief that life has a set plan for everyone. “Woods” act as a primary symbol in the poem and represents choices in the lives of human beings. You can choose woods that highlight freedom from all constraints of society, or you can remain duty-bound to your personal and professional lives and opt to return to the mundane obligations. Simerjeet emphasizes that you may lose in the long run if you become passive and withdraw from life. He wants you to remember that even after significant setbacks, life goes on. Woods also stand for distractions that you might face while pursuing your life goals. The poem gives the invaluable message that you must fulfill your duties and not waste time on distractions. As the narrator returns to his journey, in the same way, you should involve yourself in the thick of action even if there are distractions and setbacks. Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost Whose woods these are I think I know. His house is in the village though; He will not see me stopping here To watch his woods fill up with snow. My little horse must think it queer To stop without a farmhouse near Between the woods and frozen lake The darkest evening of the year. He gives his harness bells a shake To ask if there is some mistake. The only other sound’s the sweep Of easy wind and downy flake. The woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep. A Psalm of Life - Powerful Life Poetry by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow | Read by Simerjeet Singh

A Psalm of Life - Powerful Life Poetry by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow | Read by Simerjeet Singh

“Lives of great men all remind us, We can make our lives sublime, And, departing, leave behind us, Footprints on the sands of time…” These words from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s "The Psalm of Life" give me not only goosebumps but also hope and strength to bounce back from setbacks. Enjoy our next poem from the Poetry That Inspires series. Regards, Simerjeet Singh What the Heart of the Young Man Said to the Psalmist Tell me not, in mournful numbers, Life is but an empty dream! For the soul is dead that slumbers, And things are not what they seem. Life is real! Life is earnest! And the grave is not its goal; Dust thou art, to dust returnest, Was not spoken of the soul. Not enjoyment, and not sorrow, Is our destined end or way; But to act, that each to-morrow Find us farther than to-day. Art is long, and Time is fleeting, And our hearts, though stout and brave, Still, like muffled drums, are beating Funeral marches to the grave. In the world’s broad field of battle, In the bivouac of Life, Be not like dumb, driven cattle! Be a hero in the strife! Trust no Future, howe’er pleasant! Let the dead Past bury its dead! Act,— act in the living Present! Heart within, and God o’erhead! Lives of great men all remind us We can make our lives sublime, And, departing, leave behind us Footprints on the sands of time; Footprints, that perhaps another, Sailing o’er life’s solemn main, A forlorn and shipwrecked brother, Seeing, shall take heart again. Let us, then, be up and doing, With a heart for any fate; Still achieving, still pursuing, Learn to labor and to wait. It’s titled “Just Wait for the Sun” and is read by Simerjeet Singh in our next Poetry That Inspires poem. We hope this inspiring poem will lift up your spirits in this dull weather. Please tag your friends in the comments section who need to hear this! Just Wait For The Sun by Lisa Marks When everything's darkness And you feel so alone, When the rain doesn't stop And you can't make it home, When it feels all is lost And you just want to run, It can't rain forever. Just wait for the sun. When family is pain, When friends can't be found, When you just want to scream But you can't find the sound, When it's all your fault, And you feel like you're done, Just wait for the sun. The sunshine will come. The storm always passes. It won't last forever. The rain always stops and gives way to good weather. The brightest and warmest of days still to come. Please wait for the sun. The sunshine will come. People who need you, People who still love you Can warm up your soul like the sunshine above you. You're never alone, No matter what's done. Wait for the sun. Just wait for the sun. Dark clouds always pass. I promise you, hun. We're all waiting with you. Just wait for the sun.
